What better way is there to make someone smile rather than to give them flowers? Well maybe getting them the perfect Brioche can also be a good way, and that’s exactly why, this month, we've made you guys the perfect breakfast guide! With the beginning of the spring blossom and the general feeling of renewal in the air, we are here with a crazy graduation party and some woman power from our graduates for Women's day, because let’s face it, women run the world! -Your Newsletter Team
ALL ABOUT: BRIOCHE
People often say that ‘Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!’ With Spring coming around and the days getting longer, our newsletter team has no doubt about it! What better way to start your day than with good cup of coffee and a buttery Brioche? This month, we’ve hunted through the coffee shops of Bra to find you the perfect breakfast pastry to pick up your day. It hasn’t been easy and we’ve consumed more butter than we’re proud of; but all hard work is put to good use when you find just the right brioche that leaves you utterly satisfied, with evidence of pastry flakes all over your clothes and sticky jam on your fingers. This March, we’ve featured the classics like Converso but have also searched through some hidden gems to bring you perfect Brioches at overlooked bakeries.
Be sure to check out the full guide here and stop by one of these places for a quick breakfast to get you through a long day of studying and hard work.
This month we are bringing you a very special initiative that is close to our hearts.
On March 8, which is International Women´s Day, a group of students is organizing a roundtable discussion to raise awareness for women in gastronomy. The roundtable discussion will be divided in women in the media, agriculture, professional kitchens and academia.
There are 25 spots available, you can sign up for the topic that interests you most.
We want to have a balanced crowd, so please MEN, step up, we need you!!!
STUDENT LIFE: Graduation Party!!
The time of year has come again for us to bid farewell to those students getting ready to leave Pollenzo. What better way to mark this occasion than with a great, big Graduation Party?
On March 10th, our ASSG team will be hosting a big black tie event at Movicentro, Bra for all students, staff, graduates and friends to enjoy. Tickets will be sold outside the Mensa every lunch until the 8th of February and include entrance, access to the dance floor (with tunes from DJ Mirko Magnago and Gregoire) and of course, an open bar. Guest entrance will begin at 9:30 and will be on a ticket only basis, meaning: no wristband, no entry! ASSG would also like to remind you that volunteers are needed to help transform the large station hall into a mystical party arena. Please contact them directly if you are interested; some jobs will even be paid! The theme of the night is Masquerade, so please remember to dress up smartly, put on your masks and join us for the biggest event of the year! We’ll see you there… if you can recognise us!
BOOK & MOVIE CORNER
If you haven't watched this one you cannot call yourself a foodie. In a remote 19th-century Danish village, two sisters lead a rigid life centered around their father, the local minister, and their church. Both had opportunities to leave the village: one could have married a young army officer and the other, a French opera singer. Their father objected in each case, and they spent their lives caring for him. Many years later - their father is now deceased - they take in French refugee, Babette Hersant, who agrees to work as their servant. After winning the lottery, Babette wants to repay the sisters for their kindness and offers to cook a French meal for them and their friends on the 100th anniversary of their father's birth. It proves to be an eye-opening experience for everyone. Prepare yourself a nice feast and sit down with some friends to watch it. The movie is available in UNISG library. Trailer
Laura, Lea, Lisa, Mathilde
A big bone of the former Newletter Team is graduating this 10th of March: Laura Wüthrich, Lea Ligat, Lisa Fellmann and Mathilde Vilsen are saying goodbye to Unisg (Valeria Merlo was the other gold element of the first real team but she graduated already). As wine improves with age, we wish all of them to have the same fate and to not turn to vinegar (even if we don't despise it, it's not wine!). Meet them!
